1. Who we are
The BAPS Detroit Mandir Volunteer Texts program (the “Program”) is operated by Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), operating as BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Detroit (“we”, “us”, “our”), 3175 S. Canton Center Road, Canton, MI 48188.
These terms apply to text messages sent as part of the Program. By opting in, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. Program description
The Program sends volunteer (seva) coordination messages to registered volunteers who have opted in. Messages may include:
- confirmation of your registration and enrollment in the Program;
- reminders about seva slots you have signed up for;
- schedule changes, including cancellations and time or location updates;
- items to bring for your seva;
- prayer (arti) and assembly times relevant to volunteers;
- thank-you notes after events; and
- occasional mandir announcements intended for volunteers.
We do not send promotional or marketing messages, and we do not use the Program to request donations. We do not use the Program to send one-time passcodes or login codes.
3. How to join
You can join the Program in either of these ways:
- by checking the text message consent box on our volunteer registration form at https://volunteer.detroitmandir.org/register; or
- by opting in from your volunteer dashboard after logging in to the portal.
After you opt in, you will receive a text confirming your enrollment. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of volunteering; you can register and serve as a volunteer without joining the Program.
By opting in, you confirm that you are the account holder for the mobile number you provided, or that you have the account holder's permission to enroll it.
4. Message frequency and cost
Message frequency varies with the volunteer schedule. You may receive more messages around major festivals and events, and fewer at other times.
We do not charge for Program messages. Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile plan. Contact your wireless carrier for details about your plan.
5. How to stop messages
You can opt out at any time. Reply STOP to any message from us. We also recognize STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT.
After you reply STOP, you will receive one final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed. You will not receive further messages unless you opt in again.
You can also turn off text messages at any time from your volunteer dashboard. Opting out of texts does not cancel your volunteer registration.
6. How to rejoin
To start receiving messages again, reply START, UNSTOP to our number, or turn texts back on in your volunteer dashboard. If you previously replied STOP, please reply START as well, because your carrier will block our messages to you until you do.
7. Getting help

8. Changing or giving up your number
If you change your mobile number or give it up, please reply STOP from the old number or contact us so that we do not send messages to whoever receives that number next.
9. Carriers and delivery
The Program is available on major U.S. wireless carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery depends on your carrier and device and is not guaranteed, so please don't rely on texts as the only way to learn of schedule changes.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your information, including your mobile number and consent records. We do not sell or share your mobile number or text message opt-in data with third parties for marketing purposes.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the “Last updated” date above. If we make a material change to the kinds of messages we send, we will ask you to opt in again before sending them.
